Overview
214ce Plus Special Edition, Trans Grey
Showcasing a stylish yet understated aesthetic, the 214ce Plus Special Edition, Trans Grey combines visual sophistication with musical versatility and silky-smooth playability. A solid Engelmann spruce top is paired with layered sapele back and sides in our comfortable cutaway Grand Auditorium body, finished with a rich gloss sheen. Sonically, this special-edition model yields a balanced tonal profile with bold, clear projection, making it ideal for a wide range of playing styles. Inside, cantilevered V-Class bracing delivers impressive volume, enhanced sustained and greater harmonic agreement between notes. The top boasts a dark, transparent grey finish while a black finish wraps the back, sides and slim, easy-playing Taylor neck, which features an accomodating 1 11/16” nut width. Satin black tuners and a black pickguard create an appealing visual contrast with an Italian acrylic rosette, white peghead logo and white body binding. Small Diamond fretboard inlays add touches of contemporary elegance. Outfitted with ES2 electronics for a natural amplified acoustic sound, the 214ce Plus Special Edition, Trans Grey comes in a lightweight, durable AeroCase.

In this case it's about the destination of the guitar, and the journey after having it!
I ordered this on a Friday, and informed the company in an email that if there were any payment issues, it would be strictly due to bank security measures, meaning that I would have to approve the payment. The site reads, Have questions? Need assistance with your order? Call us at 800-579-1407.
This is where things get really wild. When you google search Taylor's Support Number, 800-579-1407 it aligns with a lot of shady looking sites that don't line up with Taylor Guitars. And when you call the number the Caller ID reads, Wcwa- Consulting Education & Counseling. So of course the payment was declined by my bank for security reasons. I even tried to process it twice and it was declined two times. But this wasn't an issue caused from my side. At the time of the order the search results were not optimized to show Taylor Guitars over the shady ones. Even now that SEO is better, you can still see the mismatched responses in further search results.
I contacted the bank to discuss the situation. They were and likely still are viewing this site as a fraud website. They had me call the above number to speak with Taylor Guitars about the security issue. After some discussion and feeling safe enough to proceed I contacted the bank to process the order.
The order processed while I was on the phone with a representative from Taylor Guitars, and they assured me it was well within the window to go out for overnight Saturday delivery. They also made the promise that they would refund the shipping cost if it didn't.
I am in Portland Oregon and they processed the order to ship from Reno, NV. So it looked very likely that things would process well, but it did not. Long shipping story short they didn't pick up the guitar to ship until Saturday, then sent it over 2000 miles toward the east coast, and finally delivered it four days later.
They have a bad experience communication team. I informed them of all of this and all they could do was blame me and Fed Ex for everything, rather than own any responsibility for any of this situation.
Fortunately the call representatives were professional, friendly, and did refund the shipping cost. ~ Now after all of that I can assure you that this site is genuine, but do expect some possible fraud security issues with your bank if you order directly from them given that their information is mismatched in some ways.
NOW FOR THE GUITAR!
It's a good thing that I had a backup acoustic guitar already, or I wouldn't have received this on time for any show deadlines.
The guitar itself is in great condition. I can see one small line on the finish, but it's hard to tell if someone caused it, or if it's meant to be there. It's just one line that makes me wonder which is the case though.
Overall this guitar is in great condition, and after tuning it a couple of times it is holding tune very well. After the holidays are over I will be getting this set up from a Taylor Authorized shop because I do want the best playing experience possible.
I think that the company is very professional if you speak to them on the phone. As with any company I did run into people sounding like they'd rather be in bed, but largely they were very nice and good to talk with.
Based on the end result, not the journey to get there, I would recommend Taylor Guitars and this model is beautiful.
Best wishes and good luck with your buying experiences.
