Is this as good as a 114CE for boating and campfires? I have had a 114 for almost as long as my 414 ands it has held up in the Bahamas, Keys and outside work but thinking I need (need....lol) a new one but prefer a guitar that takes the humidity and moisture abuse like the 114
Because all of our guitars use solid wood tops, the humidity requirements are the same across the lineup. Whether it’s a 114ce or another model, they’re all happiest when kept between about 40% and 60% relative humidity when not in use.

Love it!
Had my 214ce for a few weeks now, love the smell of the wood still coming off of it. Compared to my old acoustic, this thing feels, sounds, and plays like a dream. My dream guitar came true, love it!

214ce is a Great Choice
I'm no stranger to guitars. I've been playing - mostly acoustic - since the late 1960's. At one time or another I've encountered the gamut of shapes, sizes, tone woods, pricey and cheap guitars. To be honest, I wasn't in the market for a new guitar. I currently have 2 acoustics and one electric. Today is Father's Day and when I walked into the living room there was a big box with Taylor printed on it. My son, who I admit plays better than I do, is a Taylor fan and he decided to introduce me via this Father's Day present. I've looked at, and played several Taylors in guitar stores over the years, but for my level of playing I have never been able to justify buying a guitar in that price range. I'll tell you what, though, all the positive buzz about Taylor is justifiable and true. This 214ce is amazing. The neck is smooth and comfortable. The string action is just where I like it and D'Addario XS Coated Phosphor Bronze .012 strings sound great, although my preference is .011 or sometimes .010. This guitar has a rich tone, not "tinny" and great sustain. You can the difference in higher quality woods versus guitars with lower price points. This guitar sounds pure and it just resonates. It reminds me of how the strings in a grand piano just vibrate, resonate and just "sing". The tuners are accurate and precise and seem to hold tuning very well. The Expression 2 sound electronics is top notch and really amplifies the guitar while maintaining all the tonal qualities. I love playing this guitar whether using a pick or finger picking. It sounds so good. I'm trying to think of some negatives to balance out this review, but sorry - I can't think of any. This 214ce does justice to the Taylor name.
