Watch Video

With its versatile Grand Auditorium body shape, next-generation design features and classic tonewood pairing, the 414ce is all set to perform in a wide range of musical applications. Rosewood back and sides matched with a Sitka spruce top serve up warm lows, pristine highs and a slightly scooped midrange, yielding a dynamic tonal character ideal for working musicians across genres and styles. New scalloped V-Class® bracing ensures a rich low-end response, while enhancing volume, sustain and harmonic agreement between notes played along the entire fretboard. A new long-tenon Action Control Neck™ contributes extra sonic warmth and depth while enabling precise, on-the-fly string height adjustments.

Visually, the 414ce features a gloss-finish body, black body binding, a firestripe pickguard, Taylor nickel tuners, new Weathervane inlays and a single-ring Italian acrylic rosette with black and white purfling.

Equipped with our new Claria System electronics, you're well-equipped for studio sessions, live performances and everything in between. The new preamp/pickup combo features soundhole-mounted controls, including a Mid-Contour knob that helps you shape your midrange with unprecedented ease. To keep your instrument fully protected wherever the music takes you, this model comes in a deluxe hardshell case.

Don’t buy your next guitar until you’ve tried these new fanged Taylor things !

Oh my days !! Why oh why did I stick to tradition all my playing life ! I do wish I’d have given Taylor guitars a serious try years ago.

The top on mine is superb full quarter sawn giving that tight sideways grain look and almost a 3D effect (I love to see that). And the beautifully matched rosewood is a great example of more lovely tone wood.

The whole guitar is beautifully understated but like a wolf in sheep’s clothing when it opens up after half an hour playing, so balanced across the strings and up the neck.

I had been looking for a rosewood / spruce guitar and nearly went down the big ‘M’ route but saw, heard and played this and bagged it, the fastest purchase decision I think I’ve ever made.

I am very very fussy and under the Mr picky microscope the bridge could have done with a little more fine sanding and shaping on the bass side and the fret ends dressing a little finer (smoother) ..but if I feel inclined once I’m over the ‘newness’ I can sort those bits myself so those points were not a deal breaker … despite my critical eye curse that’s all the negative bits all out the way.

Bear in mind I’ve seen a new ‘M’ with an appalling neck angle and and a ‘G’ with a piece of broken bridge plate floating rounding in side so the couple of bits on this Taylor is nothing at all!

I’m very happy with my new 414ce the V bracing sounds great and the new pickup system was instant plug and play and sounds wonderful with controls set at the central position as a starting point, the new action control takes the worry out of what happens in future as did the older shim system (a must first 12 string guitars too)

Sure if you want hundreds of years of history and longstanding traditional brands (you know who) try them but also try these cutting edge next generation Taylor’s and like me you may have a bit of a shock ! and be going home with tomorrow’s classic to pass down to the kids without giving them a bill for a neck reset too !

The only problem my bank manager is left with is if the 400 series guitars are this good how darn good is a 800 ??
