Use the right strings!

4 out of 5 stars Russell C.

I have three Taylor's. An 815C, a 404L30, and a GS-Mini e-Koa.

I'm not going to tell you that the GS sounds anything like the 815C. That thing is a sonic BEAST. But the GS Mini sounds closer to the 414 than I expected. When I need to plug one of them in I always try the GS first. Of all my guitars it's the one that sounds the best plugged in. It's easier to play than a Strat and doesn't have that weird intonation problem Strats have.

I tried Elixir Custom Lights on it - big mistake. It's made for mediums and works best that way.

It was the first Taylor I bought that had to have a setup done. The action was awful.

A bandmate had a Mahogany Mini, I think the natural tone of the mahogany is mellower, if that's what you like.

Big Sound Out Of a Smaller Body Guitar!!!

5 out of 5 stars Mike L.

Bought this GS Mini ~1yr after buying an American Dream Blacktop AD17E. This lil guitar sounds great!! The projection is very good and the bass is great for a smaller guitar! Sound wise the tone on this guitar is quite a bit better than my Breedlove Companion. Very full tone with plenty of depth. Well done Taylor!! I do wish it had the same pickup system of my AD, but it's still a great guitar.

Great looks even better sound.

5 out of 5 stars John S.

I purchased my GS Koa mini from an online retailer that lets you pick the actual guitar they ship. It is beautiful, sounds like a much bigger guitar and is so responsive when finger picking. If you purchase one I urge you to restring with 12’s. The first time I went with lighter gauge strings and the next day I put on 12’s and it sounded much better.

Older version is better

3 out of 5 stars Amber

Love the GS mini Koa but the older version was so much better. I got my second one over the holidays last year and the electronics are lower quality than my old one. It kills the battery so fast. I know the wood is different on each guitar but my newer one also seems to have a cheaper looking cut of wood. Aside from that, I always love the sound of these give.

Beautiful looker and sounds just as good

5 out of 5 stars Derek S.

I gave myself a year before I’m 60 to learn the guitar so started with a cheaper brand to see how I go. I’m really enjoying it and this is now my first real purchase of a top class instrument. I did a lot of research on playability and this seemed to be everything I needed.
Easy to use and easy to take places. I have to say, it’s also just a beautiful looking guitar that sounds so nice. The tone seems far bigger than the guitar. Just love it.

My favorite guitar

5 out of 5 stars MTN MAN

I love this guitar. I never liked acoustic guitars till I played this Taylor Koa Mini. The sound is like a full size acoustic guitar. Then when you plug it in to a amp you really can't tell that its a mini acoustic electric guitar. The only thing I wish it had was a pickguard. But no problem I was able to order one from Taylor. I guess I will have to get me mahogany next which is cheaper than the Koa. Thanks for a great playing guitar. It does look different sitting between 15 different Gibson electric guitars and a couple PRS's and Fenders.

Great sound in a small package

5 out of 5 stars Aaron S.

I've only had the guitar a few days and I am loving it. This might be a small guitar but it has a voice that is every bit as big and rich as it's larger relatives. I have been teaching myself to play again after decades and this GS Mini is going to help me improve much faster than my regular scale guitars. I wish I had had a short scale back in the 80's when I was first learning.

The build quality is awesome every bit as nice as my 214ce. I love the satin finish. Besides the tuner, I haven't given the electronics a try yet, but I have every confidence they will be every bit as nice as my 214ce. While some don't like the gig bag I sure don't have an issue with it.

I am definitely a Taylor convert.

Excellence in every aspect.

Fabulous guitar ⚡️✨and as a beginner I have definitely felt its worth paying the price to get such a beautiful instrument to encourage to play and enjoy. The sound, the body the feel and the quality.

GS Mini - One isn't enough.

5 out of 5 stars Fred H.

I love my GS Mini Koa. This is actually my 2nd GS Mini. I got it to keep at our vacation home. I own a 612, and it’s great, but the size of the GS mini is perfect when I’m sitting around the house irritating my wife. It’s easier to play and the sound is surprisingly good. The koa hasn’t opened up as much as the mahogany one, which is about 10 years old, but it’s prettier to look at IMO. Both are excellent guitars. Perfect starter guitars for a young, budding Jeff Beck. May he RIP.

The good, bad, and so far ugly.

3 out of 5 stars Peter K.

You're catching me at a bad time. I love the guitar itself, the sound the feel, but the electronics have given me nothing but trouble. So five stars for the guitar zero stars for the electronics. Been through two rounds of repairs. And the tuner batteries have gone dead within a week. I've already been through six sets of batteries. The dealership could find nothing wrong testing the voltage. I'm going to take it home and try again. At this price I expected better.

Response from Taylor Guitars, Glen W.

Sorry to hear about the electronics issue. Please reply to our email if that has not been resolved.

Very happy with my GS Mini Koa Plus

5 out of 5 stars Wayne B.

I am extremely happy with the playability and pleasantly surprised by the sound of the GS Mini, despite being a small guitar.
