Crafted with solid Big Leaf maple back and sides and a torrefied Sitka spruce top, the Taylor 614ce offers an updated take on what players may know as the maple sound. Revoiced by Andy Powers to generate more warmth and openness, this Grand Auditorium takes a boost from the V-Class bracing inside, which adds volume and sustain that complement the torrefied top's extra sweetness and depth. The result is a guitar with a highly player-reflective sound, one that showcases the unique stylistic and technical quirks of each individual player. A hand-rubbed Brown Sugar stain highlights maple's natural figuring; other appointments include ebony binding, a paua/abalone rosette and Wings fretboard inlays. It ships with ES2 electronics and a hardshell case.

We regularly built those with three piece backs when our wood supply didn't have pieces wide enough for a 2 piece back.

If tuning to standard pitch, Medium gauge 13-56.
I bought this guitar new in 2017 and believe I registered it. Will Taylor repair the bridge, as it is lifting off of the body?

there is a similar 614ce model in the market without the wing inlay in the headstock, different year?
Those made before 2015 have different specs.

No, there are no color options on this model.

Yes, all guitars in the 600 series have genuine West African Crelicam ebony fretboards and bridges.

What case do these come with?
All 600 series models ship in a deluxe brown hard shell case made by Taylor for optimal fit and protection.
The body wood looks brown on most of these, is it maple like 600's have been historically?
Yes, we still use maple for the back and sides but we started staining it brown in 2014 when the series was redesigned. The 618e is the exception with it's Antique Blonde finish treatment.
I like this guitar but could I get it with a Florentine cutaway?
Yes, a Florentine cutaway is an available option.
Could I get one made with a different top wood?
No, this model is only available with the torrefied Sitka spruce top.

I Love This Guitar1
I love this guitar. The Maple back is unbelievably beautiful and the sound is bright and clean. I have it tuned to DADGAD and use it to play live and also in the studio for recording.

Blind Choice
I own a Martin D-18 that I have played since 1976 and also own an Alvarez Yairi but I wanted something different but wasn’t sure what exactly. After dinner the other night a friend and I went to a Guitar Center store in Redmond WA. I set down and had my friend hand me random guitars (Martins, Gibsons), everything they had in all price ranges that I played without looking or knowing what they were. I probably tried 20 but kept coming back to and finally decided on the 614ce. Love this guitar!, incredible sound and feel, especially up the neck.

A perfect sound
A few months ago, I tried many Taylor guitars, including the 914ce Builder’s Edition, as well as several other acoustic guitars in the store. This guitar completely captivated me, and we sealed the deal! :) I truly felt that it had a unique sound, different from all the other guitars I had tried, and I’m still very happy with its tone.
Except for one small issue… I bought the guitar in 2025, but it’s a 2021 model. I’m not sure if this is related, but my ebony pickguard has slightly lifted from the body at the corners, and I need to reattach it. Other than this issue, it truly has a dreamlike sound.

Amazing guitar!
Player for over 40 years. Had many great American acoustics over the years.
Lately I traded my lovely Martin 2016 000-18 for a second hand 2015 614ce.
I was looking for a more responsive and projective instrument - more focused on upper tones.
The Taylor fees like a jet fighter or a formula 1 race car - not forgiving but if you know what you're doing it can fly as high and far as you can get.
It is bright guitar but not harsh. every note "jumps" out as you expect from maple and spruce.
The attention to details is amazing and so is its design. Its a modern classic and I'm so proud to own it.
And last but not least: the Taylor hard case is awesome! Much classier than Gibson's or Martin's I owned in the past. Usually I'm a gig bag guy - but I will defiantly use the hard case as its a gem.

614 Taylor, Just Magic!
Love the guitar, the sound is nothing short of amazing! The tone and projectiion form the guitar, even high up the neck is unbelievable. I played the guitar in Grun’s guitar store in Nashville and my daughter (who is young and has great ears) was blown away by the sound and tone. Mind you I had played much more expensive guitars some by other big brands and this was the one the sounded best by far. I think ir may have something to do with the new V bracing but what ever it is its magic to me, thanks Taylor!

Just a great guitar
I knew Taylor Guitars for their playing comfort, but never really played one. I also had "my" acoustic guitar sound in mind (quite bright/sparkling) ... I studied everything on Taylor's web site, listened to quite some reviews, and came to a "theoritical" conclusion on what would be my favorite Taylor (a Maple one ... and probably a Grand Auditorium, so the 614), but I wanted to try "all" models, so went to a guitar store, and picked up every model they had in stock ... My preference went to the 814 and 914 (hardly enough they didn't have any 600 series) ... I preferred the sound of the 814 (guitar alone), but it was a bit "overwhelming" ... a bit "too much" ... a bit too "complex/complete" ... I couldn't really imagine it it in a mix, I almost purchased the 914, but decided to wait for them to receive a 614 ... A few weeks later they received one, and it was exactly what I was looking/hoping/waiting for ... I compared it to the 914 and 814 again, and no doubt for me, I really preffered the more "focused" and brite sound of the CE 614. Perfectly happy with the acoustic sound, but I'm still struggling with electro-acoustic amplified sound ... I haven't been able to get exactly the same sound (or the sound I have in mind) amplified than without, but I'm convinced to get their at some stage

Beautifully built, sounds beautiful.
I purchased this guitar as a beginner. I had what many would describe as a "starter" guitar, it was just that, something to start with. My guitar teacher kept telling me that nothing sounds as good as a solid wood guitar. I started doing my research, first online, then in person. I played a handful of guitars, and this one spoke to me. The sound was incredible, the feel was equally great. The guitar is well built and absolutely beautiful. The only thing I wish it had was Gotoh tuners. But this guitar really sings, so I can't complain.

Such a beautiful sounding guitar. Crystal clear across the whole range. Has a very played-in sound, more balanced and less bright than you'd expect. Great dynamics and sustain and you're in complete control. They did a great job voicing for the maple. Can be a bit unforgiving; there's no place to hide.

Taylor 614CE
I went to Palmer Music in Conway Arkansas to purchase a Taylor 618 that I had played there a week earlier and I decided to play a few other models before making my decision. When I played this 614CE, it just kinda spoke to me. It has great sustain and it’s amazing how just changing picks can change the tone in subtle ways! I own 2 other Taylor’s also, a 310CE that I’ve had for over 20 years and a GS mini koa plus, both great guitars also but I still play the 614CE the most! Great craftsmanship and a quality instrument!

Gerry’s new 614ce
I am thrilled with my Taylor 614ce guitar. I started learning to play the guitar during the pandemic. Since then I’ve purchased five new Taylor guitars, and they are all outstanding. I would like to think that I was helpful in convincing my daughter’s boyfriend to buy his 714ce burst, too.
I really admire what Bob Taylor stands for, and I give him and Kurt a lot of credit for building an outstanding company. Moreover, their decision to bring Andy Powers into the company speaks volumes.

It's up to you.
I purchased my 614ce to replace an 814ce that was destroyed in an accident. The 614 plays just as smoothly as the 814 but with a slightly different sound. Which is better? It's up to individual choice. My advice is to try all the Taylors. You can't go wrong.
