Yes. It would have to be special ordered through an authorized dealer.

The Custom 414ce was a Guitar Center exclusive. At the time, the modified specs were the sunburst top and engraved Victorian fretboard inlays.

No new sonic changes.

Sounds as beautiful as it looks.
I’ve owned a GS Mini for almost 12 years now. There came a point where my big hands outgrew it. I still love it nonetheless but I felt that I was ready for an upgrade. It was my first time shopping for a full-size guitar.
The 414ce wasn’t my first choice. I initially set my bar low but for sure, I wanted to stick with Taylor as I never had any big issues with my GS Mini other than outgrowing it. I was a big fan of the Grand Auditorium for so many years so I knew that the Taylor I would end up with had to be a GA model.
I initially was content at looking at a 114ce or even 214ce. (I thought that spending over $1,200 for a guitar was too much) However, after some reflection, I knew that in upgrading, that the guitar I would end up buying would be one that would last me a long time. So, I decided to explore Taylor’s all-solid wood guitars but had to make sure it was within my budget of $3,000. Then, a sign manifested. A one day flash sale at my local guitar stores was just weeks away in mid-April of this year and they offered 20% discounts on Taylor guitars.
With that mindset, I decided to look ahead of time at my local guitar stores. They had a 314ce 50th Anniversary on display and was instantly drawn to the looks. I asked to test it. I was blown away by the sound and thought maybe this is the one I’ll decide to buy during the flash sale. However, my hopes were dashed after a second visit when I found out it was not in stock. Then, I noticed 2 414ce-Rs in stock, one in the natural finish and one with the Tobacco Sunburst top. Both had the same price tag. I also asked to try them both and my opinion changed. I preferred the sound of the 414ce than the 314ce.
During the day of the flash sale, I then narrowed down my options to both 414ce’s. I ended up coming home with the Tobacco Sunburst top (even better that I got it at 20% off).
Now, I can’t find myself putting it down. The 414ce-R plays like a dream and it looks as beautiful as it sounds. I couldn’t be any happier with my decision. Pricey investment, yes (even with the discount I got), but the guitar already paid for itself within weeks of getting it. Has the signature Taylor playability and build quality combined with the sweet sound of the Sitka Spruce and East Indian Rosewood tonewood combo. It certainly wasn’t my first choice for a Taylor but IMO, it ended being the best choice for an upgrade!

A great replacement for an 814
I have owned an 814c since 1994. Paid $1,800.00 for it from Carl's Music in Lexington, KY. Played it everyday for until 2021, when hard times caused me to sell it to an old friend of mine. I didn't have a guitar to play except an old Ovation Glen Campbell, I got in 1972. About 5 months ago, I got a raise and was waiting until Taylor, thru Sweetwater Sound (my favorite store), had a 0% sale on Taylor's. So, I get this beautiful Sunburst. Two months after I get this guitar, my old friend decides he wants to give my guitar back to me, to enjoy it in my 70's. He's in his 80's. Now I have 2 fantastic Taylor's and their is a difference in the sound. I like the 414 sound better. A little fuller and plays in tune better.
Good job Taylor in being consistent in your craftsmanship. Only difference is the narrower nut spacing on the 814. Other than a bit of minor adjusting, I find myself liking it more and more.

My Taylor Custom 414ce-R vs my Martin D-41.
Had my custom 414ce-R for close to 2 years now. Love it. My go to was always my Martin D-41, but now I find myself grabbing the 414. Great sound plus it’s friggin beautiful.

Easy to play with this comfortable neck.
Fret board radius I know nothing about but this is the easiest guitar to play. The quality of the sound up and down the neck is superb. Glad to have the ESB2 pickup. I get compliments on this guitar for looks and sound. I do wish it had a built-in tuner.

I have the custom 414ce-R and it’s my favorite to play. Take it to Jam’s also. It sounds as good as it looks. The one thing I don’t like is the B string. Almost sounds as though it’s buzzing. Had it professionally set up, but still isn’t spot on. It’s still one I play most.

I can't find anything I don't like about it. I love playing it, lots of volume. Tone is amazing.
