Overview

Jason Mraz Signature Model (JMSM)

San Diego-born singer-songwriter Jason Mraz is a longtime Taylor player, and we were thrilled to work with him to design a signature model inspired by his nylon-string NS72ce. The Jason Mraz Signature Model (JMSM) is built with all-solid Indian rosewood back and sides and a Western Red cedar top. The tonewood combination serves up a lovely musical character with lush overtones, low-end warmth and a snappy treble range. Mraz also helped us design a custom suite of visual appointments, such as the "Be Love" triangle/circle fretboard inlay in Mexican cypress and the zodiac-themed rosette, also made with Mexican cypress along with granadillo and Hawaiian koa. An ES-N pickup provides easy plugged-in sound and the guitar ships in a hardshell case.

Features

Grand Concert

Our most compact full-scale shape serves up a balanced, articulate voice that responds beautifully to a light touch.

Indian Rosewood

Deep lows, clear trebles and a slight scoop in the midrange. Rich overtone response with a sparkling, high-fidelity character.

Western Red Cedar

Warm, mellow attack. Exceptional responsiveness adds warmth and color to a soft touch. More overtones than spruce with a lower volume ceiling.

ES-N®

This under-saddle transducer was designed for Taylor nylon-string models.

Soft Cutaway

Our soft cutaway has a flatter slope than our standard Venetian style. Grand Concert nylon-string models feature a subtler version.

Best Acoustic Nylon session if you're not playing classical music of flamenco.

4 out of 5 stars Benjamin O.

Best for Acoustic session if you're not playing classical music of flamenco.

- On the overall the guitar is almost perfect, the tone is great a nice low end without being too blurry (like the 42ce was)

But the preamp is the only thing that doesn't come perfect. It sounds plastique-ish and the power Fishman preamps gave to cope with that problem isn't there no more - If the sound engineer is not on your side or too busy .. the guitar doesn't sound as good as an average Taylor Guitar.

Still, I would always recommend Taylor Guitars over almost any other, still only play Taylor since almost 10+ years now.

Warm - Stunning !

5 out of 5 stars Ivan T.

My wife ordered this JMSM in January for a gift. The guitar was delivered in March 2022. My wife plays Mandolin while I “Pick” at the guitar. We are elderly (70 and 68 years old). We play daily, just for our own amusement and joy. We play a lot of Folk, Irish, Traditional, and a bit of Bluegrass.

The tone, color, and warmth of the JMSM is beyond words. It seems to ring for minutes, not seconds. So much so, that it is easy to get lost in notes that were played previously as they interact with the present. I still consider myself on the beginning side of my skills. I am learning some finger style techniques as well as play the nylon strings openly with a Jazz pick.

I have several guitar options including other Taylor guitars and Irish made guitars. My hands seem to always lead me home here to the JMSM. The cedar top combined with the Indian Rosewood back and sides present a warm invitation to experiment. It is always a struggle to put away.

Sometimes when my fingers get too tired to play, I just take in the beauty of materials and craftsmanship. Like no other, simply stunning, with an elegant sophistication of its own.
