This Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric boasts a one-of-a-kind metallic top color we've dubbed Casablanca Beige Metallic, a sparkling champagne-hued treatment inspired by a classic Porsche color from the late 1970s that reveals shifting shades of pale gold depending on the lighting and viewing angle. In terms of the playing experience, this model fits into our Next-Gen family with scalloped V-Class bracing, an Action Control Neck and Claria electronics, all of which complement the rosewood/spruce tonewood pairing that players love for its lush, blooming overtone character, cross-spectrum balance and top-end clarity, all with a touch of additional warmth and resonance from the lightweight interior voicing. Visual details to complement the custom top color include a firestripe pickguard, a smoky ebony fretboard, smoked nickel tuning machines, a green abalone rosette, maple body binding with black/maple/rosewood top edge trim, mother-of-pearl Windansea inlays, and a full-body gloss finish.

What is the difference between the Taylor 814ce and the Taylor Next Generation 814ce?
The primary difference between the standard 814ce and the Next Generation 814ce is a trio of new features that enhance the sound and feel of the Next Generation guitar. These features are:
- Scalloped V-Class bracing, a new variant of Taylor’s innovative V-Class bracing framework that introduces more low-end presence and open-string resonance in addition to the improved volume, sustain and pitch accuracy of the original V-Class bracing design
- The Action Control Neck, a new neck joint that allows players and their technicians to quickly and easily adjust the guitar’s string height in order to dial in the right feel for the individual player, the playing style, changes in climate and the musical application
- The new Claria System electronics, a reimagined undersaddle piezo pickup and preamp that offer intuitive, adaptable amplified acoustic sound for live applications and recording scenarios. The Claria System features soundhole-mounted controls with Volume, Mid-Contour and Tone knobs that make it easy to dial in the sound you want.
Taylor guitars from the Standard Collection without the “Next Generation” moniker usually include the original V-Class bracing platform, the classic Taylor neck and Expression System 2 electronics. More models will be shifted to the Next Generation feature set over time.
Note that guitars from the Gold Label, Builder’s Edition and SOMOS Collection include unique design elements of their own that may differ from Next Generation models.
Is the Taylor Next Generation 814ce replacing the standard 814ce?
Yes, the Next Generation 814ce acoustic guitar has taken the place of the 814ce in the standard line. However, authorized Taylor dealers may still have 814ce guitars from prior to 2026 available.
Which Taylor model includes the newest features?
The Taylor acoustic guitar line is regularly updated throughout the year. Our Next Generation acoustic guitars boast the trio of scalloped V-Class bracing, the Action Control Neck and Claria acoustic electronics, which was first released in early 2026.
However, other acoustic guitars throughout the Taylor line also include features only recently added to our catalog.
For instance, our Gold Label acoustic guitars include both the Action Control Neck and fanned V-Class bracing, another variant of the V-Class design that introduces greater warmth, power and a distinctively vintage-inspired musical character. Fanned V-Class bracing is exclusive to Taylor’s Gold Label acoustic guitars.
If you’re looking for features that add up to a more contemporary, modern acoustic tone, we suggest playing our Next Generation and Builder’s Edition guitars. For that old-soul, heritage-flavored voice, try our Gold Label guitars.
Is the previous 814ce still available?
The version of the 814ce acoustic guitar built prior to 2026 (non-Next-Generation) is no longer in production, but you might still find the previous iteration of the 814ce in stores. We recommend contacting your preferred local authorized Taylor dealer to inquire about availability.
Online retailers may also have stock of the previous 814ce as well.
Will the Taylor Next Generation 814ce eventually become the standard 814ce?
Yes. The Next Generation rollout will introduce players to the trio of new features and the uniquely rich, vibrant sound they produce. Eventually, all compatible Taylor models will include those features, and the “Next Generation” moniker will go away.
Does the Taylor Next Generation 814ce come with a guitar case?
Yes. The Next Generation 814ce includes a deluxe brown hardshell acoustic guitar case at no additional charge. Taylor’s guitar cases are manufactured in-house and feature wood construction with a stylish vinyl cover, soft plush interior lining to protect your acoustic guitar from scratches and other damage, and a built-in storage compartment for guitar picks, tuners, guitar straps, and other key guitar accessories.
