Solid sapele back and sides with a Sitka spruce top serve up a bold, punchy nylon-string sound with a rich midrange, warm lows and articulate highs. Combined with the 1-7/8" nut width, it all adds up to the ideal package for fingerstyle players, offering plenty of string spacing without making it difficult to fret complex chords. The appointment package maintains a performance-focused aesthetic with Gemstone inlays and a glossy top finish with satin back and sides. It includes our ES-N pickup for authentic live tone and ships with a hardshell case.

This one has the same finish treatment as the other 300 series models in the line up. Gloss top and satin back and sides.

How is the Builder's Edition model different than the regular 324ce?
You can think of the Builder's Edition as sort of the "director's cut" of a 300 series instrument. It has features that make it extremely player- and performance-friendly: its tone wood set, its beveled armrest and cutaway, and it's Silent Satin finish are examples.

Is this guitar available as a 14-fret model?
No, this is purpose-built for the neck and body to connect at the 12th fret. This makes for a compact feel that's rare in a 12-string guitar. The tone that results from the placement of the bridge in the guitar's lower bout is advantageous as well.
What makes a 12-fret guitar different?
A 12-fret guitar makes for a more compact playing framework. It combines the lap-friendly Grand Concert body with the slightly condensed fret spacing of the 24-7/8" scale length and the shorter 12-fret-to-the-neck construction. This makes a slinkier "handfeel" and easier fretting as you move up the fretboard. There's a surprising amount of tonal power and midrange warmth from the bridge sitting back a little farther on the lower bout. Also, the slotted headstock creates a more acute string angle over the nut. Because this puts a little more downward pressure on the nut, it'll feel a little more precise to your fretting hand. Notes won't bend quite as easily closer to the nut.
What's the difference between the Grand Concert and the Grand Auditorium?
The Grand Concert is considered a small-body guitar. It has an articulate voice with top-end chime and controlled overtones. Its intimate size is lap/couch friendly. The Grand Auditorium is a medium-size guitar and Taylor’s most versatile body shape. It's known for its balanced blend of warmth, clarity and sustain with a well-defined midrange.
Is this guitar solid wood?
Yes - just like all our US-made instruments, these are constructed from all-solid woods.
As a top wood, how does spruce sound vs. mahogany?
Aside from the difference in appearance, both wood types are extremely musical. Spruce is lighter in weight and has a broader dynamic range with pleasing overtones. A mahogany top is slightly denser and heavier which translates into a natural compression effect that smoothes out the attack, producing a more focused voice with fewer overtones.
Is the Builder's Edition 324ce available in a left-handed version?
No, at this time we aren't building this in a left-handed version.

Superb craftsmanship, but what about the electronics?
I've had this guitar for a couple of months now, and here's my thoughts;
I very much enjoy the sound from it, a bit sharp and attacky, but also pretty deep in the bass,a perfect combo. With cutaway and the neck meets the body in the 14th fret, it's very versatile to play. The neck work is fantastic, just put the capo anywhere on the neck, and it stays in tune.
The reason why I rate it 4 instead of 5 stars, is the electronics. It's just a piezo, and for the price, that's not good enough. Look what Yamaha can do with their atmosfeel system, way better. But unplugged it's a joy to play and sounds great.

Taylor 314ce-N Factory Used
Acquired my Taylor 314ce-N as a factory used guitar. I understand it has no factory warrantee No problem. It has a slight scuff on the treble side lower bout, and what looks like a belt buckle rash on the back. No problem. Plays beautifully. Love the nylon string sounds. I am a jazz banjo player, but wanted to expand to guitar. I was looking at many different brands of classical guitars, glad I stumbled on this one. I plan to upgrade the tuners to gold plate soon.

Love my 314ce-N
I am looking to upgrade to 414ceR- N or 714ce-N, If I can find one. I am disappointed they have been discontinued with Spruce and Rosewood.

The guitar is great.
Help me line up a warranty repair.
The electrical connection between the output jack and the pickups is not connected. I have taken a picture and see the loose ire and the small plug rattling around inside the guitar. How do I get this repaired?
